Construction work on the hall is now nearing completion, which is expected around the end of September to enable internal decoration to be completed during October.
The electrical mains supply has now been relocated, allowing the old entrance porch to be demolished, and the new entrance porch is expected to be constructed shortly.
A gas supply is being provided to allow the new heating systems to be installed.

Bus Shelters
The bus shelters at each end of the village are due to be erected during September.

Speed Limit
Due to impending road resurfacing, Scottish Borders Council are currently unable to give a definite date for the reduction of the Heiton speed limit to 30mph.
The new speed limit will also include Sunlaws Village.

Funding
A grant of £10,000 has recently been received from Awards for All for the purchase of tables, chairs and kitchen equipment.
A further grant of £3,425 has been received from the Rural Development Small Awards Fund (RDSAF) for the purchase of window blinds and portable stage.

Kelso Civic Week
The annual Heiton Ride took place in July with a very good turnout. The committee would like to thank all those who helped in any way.
It is hoped to resume the ever-popular annual dance next year in the newly refurbished hall.

Hall Activities
The committee is currently looking into various potential activities for the hall. These include judo, keep fit, book club, quilting, New Age Kurling and a mother & toddler group.
It is also intended to hold another race night following the popularity of the last one.
If anyone wishes to organise, or has any ideas for, additional activities in the hall or meeting room then they are asked to contact the committee to enable a programme to be drawn up prior to the reopening. The Village Hall is there to provide a service to all.
