Heiton Village Hall Newsletter - April 2008
Hall News Hall Reopening His Grace the Duke of Roxburghe reopened the hall on Saturday 23rd February. Many local residents and other hall users took the chance to inspect the new facilities and all agreed that the work had been well worth the effort.
Race Night This first event was a great success with approximately 90 people attending and £1,268 being raised for hall funds. This will enable the committee to purchase equipment for proposed activities
Quilting Wednesday 7th May at 7.30pm Are you interested in sewing or quilting? We are hoping to start a group in the hall. Whether a beginner or accomplished with the needle, why not come along and try your hand. Two hours a week learning or sharing skills as well as having a chat may be just what you need to break up the week.
New Age Kurling Friday 16th May at 7.30pm. Adults, come along and try your hand at this fun sport, entry will be free. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available. If this proves successful then a family night (for all ages) will be held shortly afterwards. Thereafter it is hoped to set up clubs for adults and children.
Village News Mobile Library The SBC Mobile Library now visits Heiton Hall car park every three weeks. The next visit will be on Tuesday 29th April from 1.30 - 2.30pm.
MSP Surgery MSP John Lamont is holding a surgery in the hall on Monday 9th June 4.15 - 4.45pm to enable residents to go along and have a chat about any problems or concerns they may have.
Hall Committee The Committee is urgently looking for residents who would be interested in becoming co-opted members, in order that many more events or activities can be planned.
Future Events The Civic Week Dance will be held on Monday 14th July from 10pm until 1am with music by Rob Bell. A 60’s Night is being planned for October.
Other Activities If you would like to start a Badminton club in the hall, we would be delighted to hear from. The Committee are also looking for someone who would like to start a Keep Fit Class, or anyone with ideas for other activities they would like to see being held in the hall, please do contact a committee member
